Teaching Good Hygiene Habits to Daycare Kids

At our day care in Wimbledon, Wimbledon Day Nursery, we believe that teaching and nurturing good hygiene habits in young children is very important for their development. Learning good personal hygiene habits prevents illness and encourages children to develop lifelong healthy hygiene habits which is an essential aspect of early education at nurseries in Wimbledon.

Pre-schoolers are extremely susceptible to illnesses like the common cold, chicken pox, and other common sicknesses which are easily passed from one child to another. Since they haven’t quite mastered good hygiene, germs can travel around rather quickly in pre-schools. Teaching them some simple hygiene skills like frequent handwashing can prevent this.

Teach your children to follow these easy hygiene skills to establish healthy habits at an early age.

TOP 5 HEALTHY HYGIENE HABITS TO TEACH YOUR CHILD

Brush Teeth every Morning and Night

Part of good sleep hygiene habits is for kids to brush their teeth every night before they go to sleep and every morning when they wake up. This will keep the teeth healthy and strong….and prevent bad breath!

Point Out Bad Habits To Avoid

There are certain habits such as biting fingernails and picking noses which should be stopped at an early age. These habits spread germs and can cause illness and infections.

Maintain Proper Toilet Etiquette

Children should learn early on how to properly use the toilet for both health and social reasons. To maintain health, they need to know how to use the toilet, clean themselves using toilet paper, and always wash their hands after. It’s also important that they follow good etiquette and remember to flush every time and put down (or up) the toilet seat too for others that will use it after.

Teach Sneezing Etiquette

Sneezing openly spreads germs, it’s safest to use a tissue to cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze. Sneeze into your elbow instead of your hands if you don’t have a tissue.

Wash Hands Frequently

Good hygiene habits for kids start with washing their hands frequently. Kids touch everything! They pick up germs everywhere they go. So, it’s essential for kids to wash their hands with soap during the day frequently to reduce the risk of getting ill and spreading germs.

If your child is attending our nursery school in Wimbledon, it’s important that they learn good personal hygiene to protect themselves from harmful germs.
