7 Fun Educational Activities for Toddlers

Fun Educational activities for toddlers provide a means to learn through fun and engaging toddler activities.

All the best nurseries in Wimbledon (such as Wimbledon Day Nursery) use all sorts of fun educational activities as part of their curriculum for teaching younger children.

Here are 7 Fun educational activities for toddlers:

1. Learn Through Song and Music

Singing and music are great learning activities for toddlers. Learning songs teaches memorization and is a fun group activity. But don’t stop there, play with instruments like bells and tambourines and even create your own instruments.

2. Start with Basic Math

Practicing counting and adding is easy because it can be done anywhere. Get kids engaged by asking them to count the people at the table or how many stuffed animals they have. Play games like “I Spy” to help them identify numbers on signs, books, etc.

3. Play Learning Games

You can invent all kinds of games such as a basic game that helps them learn farm animals, numbers, colours, and shapes. Create a scavenger hunt where they have to find 5 green items for example.

4. Begin Phonics Basics

Try activities that make learning phonics (the idea that letters make certain sounds) an adventure instead of a tedious lesson. Kids can play games (look for things that start with certain sounds), hunt for letters, or make alphabet books to bring their phonics lessons to life.

5. Learn Simple Writing Skills

Teach your young one the basics of writing by using methods that go beyond pencil and paper. Use chalk to write outside on the backyard patio area or Play-Doh to shape letters. Your child will have fun and learn simultaneously.

6. Learn to Count

Studies show that hands-on projects activate kids’ brains and make it easier to learn. If you play a game that lets them physically touch objects that they’re counting, they will retain information quicker.

7. Explore Colours

From a very early age, kids are already interested in learning their colours. With a simple pack of colourful pom-poms, you’ll be teaching your child to identify colours, learn to count, and understand how to sort by colour, which also encourages gross motor skills. It also helps them develop fine motor skills when they pick up the tiny objects.

There are plenty of fun preschool activities in Wimbledon Day Nursery that the teachers use as educational tools so the children can learn and have fun at the same time. That is one of the reasons why Wimbledon Day Nursery is one of the best nurseries in Wimbledon.
