6 Fun and Easy Dental Care Activities for Preschoolers

Dental care activities for Pre-schoolers that teach kids the proper way to brush their teeth can help your students to develop strong dental health habits. Making dental care fun and engaging will help them understand at a young age the benefit of good oral health care that they can continue to practice throughout their entire lives.

At Wimbledon Day Nursery, one of the leading Nursery Schools in Wimbledon, we make it part of our curriculum to teach healthy habits to our students at an early age.

To help teachers make dental care fun, we’ve compiled a list of 6 fun and easy dental health activities for toddlers and preschool-aged kids.

6 Fun and Easy Dental Care Activities for Pre-schoolers

1. Dental Matching

Create an activity with dental items such as toothbrushes, dental floss, mouthwash, and toothpaste where students can match which dental care items they have and use at home. These dental activities for toddlers will help familiarise them with essential dental care products.

2. Lamination Brushing

Brushing laminated paper teeth can be super engaging and fun for your students. With something as simple as a laminated printout of a tooth, students can use real toothbrushes and toothpaste to practice their up-and-down and circular brushing technique!

3. Read and Brush

Incorporate literacy activities during dental week by reading a book like Snappy Croc. This activity not only teaches dental hygiene but also fosters a love for reading, making it a great oral health activity for kids.

4. Floss and Floss Some More

Create an activity with a plastic set of teeth that the children can practice flossing on. This hands-on activity will give them the practice they need to floss their own teeth.

5. Bad and Good Sort

Instilling healthy habits in our little ones is super important for their development. One way to do that is to separate bad and good foods and discuss how each will affect your teeth.

6. Brush, Draw & Glue

Developing good motor skills and strong teeth should be part of the primary focus of dental health months and preschool. Dental hygiene activities like building an alligator with a mouth full of teeth do exactly that!

Children who attend preschool in Wimbledon learn at a very early age how important dental care is and they also develop healthy dental care habits. At Wimbledon Day Nursery, not only do we teach basic academics to young kids, but we also teach them important life skills like dental care and basic hygiene.
