Cognitive health is extremely important for your little one’s development, it helps them think clearly, and to also remember what they learn at school, home, and during organised activities.
At Wimbledon Nursery Schools, we make it a priority to help children develop their cognitive health through fun and engaging activities for cognitive development for preschoolers.
Below, we’ve included some of our favourite cognitive learning activities that help kids learn skills to improve their cognitive development.
At Wimbledon Nursery Schools, we understand that a child’s cognitive development can always benefit from helpful cognitive learning activities for preschoolers that promote active learning, memory, concentration, attention, and perception. That’s why we make these activities part of our daily curriculum.
Here are 5 fun cognitive learning activities for preschoolers that will improve their cognitive health and skills.
Board games, puzzles, playing with building blocks, and even playing “Peek-a-Boo” or “Hide and Seek” are great for encouraging problem-solving and creativity in young children.
Take excursions to your local library or children’s museum to stimulate their curiosity and give them a chance to have “hands-on” experiences. During these learning experiences, ask questions and give them a chance to express themselves freely. These adventures can be a learning experience for both of you.
A curious child is a child who wants to learn. Give them the freedom to ask all the questions they want. This helps them develop logic, memory, problem-solving, and to better understand how their environment works.
Learning numbers and counting improves memorisation skills that can be used for other learning activities as well, such as learning the ABCs. Make counting, find opportunities during the day to count fun objects like birds, Lego pieces, etc.
Kids love to sing, and they’ll love it even more if you sing along with them. Songs give children the opportunity to learn new words, understand music (learning how to follow along with the melody and tempo), and promote memory skills.
To improve your children’s cognitive development and learning, our Pre-School and Day care Wimbledon believe it’s important to make learning fun, not a chore. Our curriculums are full of inspiring ways to learn the basics, so children are motivated to keep learning during their educational journey.
