Is There a Right Age to Start Nursery?

Is there a right age to start nursery for your kids? Well, there’s no easy answer to that one. For many parents, the right age for kids to start nursery is determined by the span of their parental leave. For a few of them, the right age of admission comes much later. It is based on helping your child socialise and further develop before commencing formal school education. Whatever you decide, having your kid start nursery can be a moment of crisis for both parents as well as the child. So, let us reassure you, and offer some necessary guidance on this topic.

Day nurseries Wimbledon provide excellent opportunities for early childhood education and social development.

What does the research say about the ideal age for preschool?

It is not that challenging for kids as young as one year to attend a nursery. However, if parents cannot care for their children and be around them, some may seek daycare service for toddlers as well. In preschool, besides caring for the kids, teachers also introduce kids to pre-literacy and pre-math skills. As per the academic experts and educationists, children should experience a baby daycare environment at the age of 1.5 to 2 years. Usually, most of the children start taking admission in kindergarten at the age of 3. Thus, a period of 1.5 to 2 years is the most preferable to enrol in daycare nurseries in Wimbledon.

What is the age appropriate for nursery education?

The earlier a child starts daycare, the harder it is on him/her. When the results were compared,

the kids that did not begin daycare until about one year show better results. But while growing up, children are easily influenced by the things and people they observe around. Especially at the age of 1.5 to 2 years, the child’s brain is highly absorbent of the environment. This is why, for regular preschool, specific requisites are mandatory. In early-education, the daycare plays a significant role in influencing the minds of children as young as 2 to 3 years old.

The following questions will help you understand the most critical factors for daycare readiness.

  • Is your kid fairly independent?
  • Has he/she spent a considerable amount of time away from you?
  • Can he/she participate in group activities?
  • Can he/she work on school projects on his own?
  • Can he/she keep a regular schedule?
  • Does he/she have the physical and mental stamina for daycare?
  • Why do you want to send him/her to the nursery?

If your answer is ‘Yes’ to at least five of these questions, then your kid is ready to start in any top day nurseries in Wimbledon.
