5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Child Care

Whether you choose a formal child-care centre, family day care, or in-home care, there are few basic things you should know and request upon. To help you make this vital decision, we’ve talked to mothers and other child experts who have been in the child-care facilities. Here are five ways to find the best child-care option:

Look down.
There are many outstanding nurseries in Wimbledon, but when you’re visiting a potential site pay attention to how the nursery staffs interact with the kids. Ideally, a caregiver in day-care should be on the floor playing with the children or holding one on her lap. In their early years, babies need close interactive, loving, relationships with adults to thrive. That’s why it’s especially crucial that babies’ caregivers be warm and responsive.

Ask for a commitment.
Babies require consistent, predictable care. It helps them to form a reliable attachment to their caregivers. If you’re looking at an in-home caregiver, request that the person you’re thinking of making a one-year commitment to the job. If you’re considering a day-care centre, find out how long their current caregivers have been working there and how much turnover the centre usually encounters.

Do a policy check.
Find out whether you share parenting views on topics such as discipline, television, feeding, sleeping, and so forth. Inquire about the sick-child policy. Also, ask whether there is any backup plan should the family daycare provider or in-home caregiver gets sick and is unable to join for the work. The more questions you ask, the less likely you are going to get any unpleasantly surprises later.

Drop by and spy.
While word-of-mouth referrals from other parents are essential, you need to check the place for yourself to evaluate whether it meets your requirements. Of course, any child-care setting should be kept clean, childproofed, and well stocked with age-appropriate books and toys that are.

Keep talking.
Until your baby can talk by itself, you will be relying on what the nursery caregiver tells you about your child’s routine. Make sure you can interact comfortably with each other. When you first hand of your child in the morning, you should ask the caregiver how your kid slept the night before, if he is teething, and whether he/she ate breakfast. It’s always better to speak to the caregiver directly in person.
